The Taste

Bright garnet. High-toned, floral nose with broad, palate-filling strawberry fruit before a rather sour finish. Bone dry, chewy, rather demanding end. Very distinctive indeed! No charmer but intriguing, light-bodied and another candidate for a fiendish blind tasting. 16/20 Jancis Robinson MW

The Corky Verdict

Amy –This is a great red from a small producer. We hadn’t tried a wine made from 100% sumoll until we tasted this one. Well worth a try!

Sam –This is a lovely wine, very much like a light Pinot Noir from Burgundy. Spicy, fruity yet dry with a long finish. A real food wine perfect for a summer BBQ!

The Producer

Autòcton Celler is a project from a selection of the oldest vineyards in Catalunya in Spain. Winemakers utilise local varieties like Sumoll, Xarel lo, Xarel lo Vermell, Malvasia de Sitges, Subirat Parent, Macabeu. Wines are fermented in tanks, large oak barrels or amphores in Mas Vilella which is a very old traditional Catalan house dated from the XVI century.
